Arzu Yanardağ
|
Controversial stage, screen, and TV actress | September 2004 -- After Yanardağ's controversial (and highly successful) starring roles in The Vagina Monologues (Vajina Monologları) and Tattoo (Dövme), [which were both directed by Almula Merter] -- her career has sky-rocketed. Right now she's combining work with play, starring all summer long in the steamy TV cable series Holiday Passions (Tatil Aşkları). She's shown at left lounging on the fabulous sea-side set of Passions -- and discussing upcoming scenes with cast and crew members. One of Turkey's top fashon and figure models during 2006-7 | June-July 2007 -- Yargıcı was the target of Turkish paparrazi when she and brand-new businessman boyfriend, Özgür Atamer, behaved on the deck of their boat-rental in Bodrum like they were in their own private bedroom at home. |

Cem Yılmaz
|
Stand-up comedian, comedic film-star, cartoonist-satirist, winner of 'Sexiest Man' contest (2004).
| In 2006, a publicist called him "The man that makes Turkey laugh..." -- and it seems to have stuck, for the time being at least. In the news: 18-20 July 2005... Cem Bey (who got his start as a caricaturist with the satirical LeMan Magazine in 1992) was out on a dinner date with his girlfriend Cansu Dere, when he was spotted by some paparazzi -- who cornered him and began asking the usual inane questions. In response to one such, an agitated Yılmaz blurted out, "Yemek yedik, eğlendik, size ne? S*ktir gidin başımızdan..." (We ate a meal, we had some fun, what's that to you!? Now f*ck off and leave us alone...") A day after the incident had been 'dutifully' reported by the offended paparazzi member, Yılmaz felt it necessary to deny his use of the dreaded s-word, but he might have saved his breath -- because the Associations for Turkish Newspapers and Magazines, as well as the Turkish Press Council, had officially condemned him already. Sigh... Did Yılmaz's 'slip of the tongue' really deserve all that attention? We hear that Russell Crowe has asked Cem Bey to appear as a character witness -- at his latest reporter-bashing trial...

| Ceyhun Yılmaz |
late night talk show host and 'show man'
| In the news:31 August - 7 September 2005 -- Bülent Ersoy's off-color gaffe -- the straw that broke the RTÜK camel's back! It all started during a Saturday Night Live-like presentation of the Ceyhun Yılmaz Show, when Bülent Hanım asked Ceyhun Bey why he preferred to date such tall women. Then, later, during the 'Quick Quiz' portion of the program... as Bülent Hanım read aloud the names of female celebrities from a pre-selected list, she challenged Ceyhun Bey to guess their heights. When Bülent Hanım reached the name of the Turkish rock-star known as Pamela, she barely skipped a beat before blundering, "Bak boyu sana uygunmuş, onu rahat becerirsin." The live studio-audience gasped in disbelief and the show immediately cut to commercial. Still, when the show came back on-air and Ersoy apologized to everyone concerned... well, it seemed she might escape the censor's wrath -- until, that is, viewers at home began flooding RTÜK's central telephone system with complaints. And that straw broke the camel's back. Because before you could raise the other eye-brow it was bye-bye Bülent, as the RTÜK watch-dog group unceremoniously cancelled Ersoy's own new musical-variety show (broadcast on an entirely different channel) -- after only 3 segments had been aired. Gözcü Gazetesi (See photo-article at top left.) The rumor mill churned (in March/April 2005) when Ceyhun bey apparently overtook 65-year-old Hincal Uluç in the 'race' to win 21-year-old Ece Görsel. But, passions have died almost as fast as they flared -- with the parties claiming now, that they're all 'just friends.' |
