Nahçivan Nakhitchevan -- a tiny autonomous republic (which is affiliated with Azerbaijan) that borders on the far east of Turkey In the news: Oy! Such a short memory... Tiny Nakhitchevan deals unfriendly blow to Turkish trucker-pride -- As of 1 March 2005, Turkish vegetable truckers must obtain a visa to travel within the miniscule Republic of Nakhitchevan. The new visa requirement is particularly galling to the drivers because Turkey gave succor to then-desperate Nakhitchevan during the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in the 1990's.
