In those early years, Nur Ay lived in Beyoğlu, Istanbul (which later made her a logial choice for the role as an exotic dancer in Handan / Beyoglu Pilicleri [Handan / Beyoğlu Babes] in 1979). During that period, Nur Ay took dance lessons from Vahi Özlü -- and worked at the Muammer Karaca Theater and the Mürüvvet Sim Voice Studio. Nur Ay reaches dance performance climax in Handan 1979 As part of her training, she danced with French ballerinas and performed modern dance stage shows. Her European-style dance routines drew favorable attention from everyone who saw them. Because of a disagreement, Nur Ay separated from her dance partner Erdoğan Beyle in 1960 -- and began dancing on her own. She danced in Greece, Spain, and Lebanon. Barely 20 years old, she had to support her family after her father died unexpectedly. Under Nur Ay's protective wing, previously reluctant family members became her greatest fans. Throughout the remainder of the 1960's, Nur Ay performed strip-tease and oryantal (Turkish belly-dance) on stage -- for international audiences in famous night clubs from Geneva to Beirut. Daring Dancing Dynamo Nur Ay Nur Ay Nur Ay Once discovered by Yeşilçam in 1971, she made 38 (mostly erotik) films between then and 1988. In her prime, Nur Ay met and married theater-owner and director Hüseyin Kaşif, the father of Emel Aydan, one of Turkey's most illustrious transsexual stage headliners and movie actors. The marriage instantaneously made Nur Ay Emel Aydan's stepmother. The two became close friends, and continued appearing together in erotic films and seksi magazine photo-shoots even after Nur Ay's marriage with Hüseyin Kaşif went south. Nur Ay continued performing in one capacity or another until 1999 -- when she finally 'hung up her dancing shoes' for good, just before her 60th birthday!
