After more than 30 years of service in the Turkish Army, he retired as Colonel in 1993.
Since early childhood, Raif Yazıcı's favorite avocation has been fine arts painting.
Yazıcı completed his first studio works in Akpinar Country School, located in his hometown.

Since his retirement from service, he has been working in his personal studio in Narlidere, Izmir - from which he has presented his works in highly regarded art exhibitions and contests. Yazıcı had joint exhibitions in several cities throughout Turkey including Ankara, Istanbul, Aydin, Denizli, Balikesir. The state-owned national Television TRT-INT and local channel SkyTV have produced and aired special programs about the artist and his work.
His painting entitled Yedince Dalga (The Seventh Wave) was recognized as an impressive work among 630 paintings --
Raif Yazıcı received the Special Juror Award for his painting My Çanakkale in the 85th National Sovereignty Oil Painting Contest organized by the Turkish Grand National Assembly in 2005.
The Sea at Gümüldür "When I think 'Sea', I think of Gümüldür." Yazıci spends his summers in Gümüldür, along the unspoiled Aegean Seacoast of Turkey, near Izmir. ![]() Click! |
