Ice Cream-lovers (Historical) Alert
If you happened to be in Kayseri between 15 and 25 August (2006), you could have stopped in at the Kesme Dondurma Shop and get yourself a couple of large scoops -- or more... That's not only because it was really good stuff but also because the owner was packing her ice cream with real gold. That's right. The shop's owner, 51 year-old Sami Topuz, was celebrating the company's 20th anniversary by packing two one-quarter Turkish Republic gold pieces a day in random ice cream servings for that 10 day period. "I'm putting the gold right in the ice cream," she said, "so our customers will get a special surprize."
