As previously mentioned, Öyle Bir Kadın Ki ('A Woman Like That' -- the first no-holds-barred 'erotik' all-Turkish movie blockbuster made in 1979) gave the Turkish movie industry an earthquake-sized shock -- and inflicted Turkish movie-archive experts with 'Deep Throat' Paralysis. Shall we have a closer look at the supporting cast and the movie's director -- to see what part they played in creating all that fuss? Perizat (Peri Zat) and Harika Öncü -- Supporting Female Actors Perizat and Harika Öncü are happy either way Click for enlargement! Thanks to Gaye Film Productions Camp-follower Perizat (at left) frequently shows up in movies of the late seks furyası years -- whether she's received a film-credit (as here in Naki Yurter's Öyle Bir Kadın Ki [A Woman Like That]) or not (as in Beni Mahvettiler [They Ruined Me - 1979] directed by Yücel Uçanoğlu and, also, as in Oooh Oh! (1978) directed by Aram Gülyüz. A favorite go-to gal for several of the erotik film-making directors, Perizat (aka Peri Zat) shows an obvious 'love of the game' (which she plays with gusto) -- without the corresponding drive for fame and fortune of her more-famous counterparts. Her complete filmography shows only 11 official movie-credits for 1979-1980, even though she appeared in at least the two additional films just mentioned. Harika Öncü (at right, above), on the other hand, was more of a stickler for the recognition (and better pay that goes along with official film credits) -- and she has 16 such credits to her name in an acting career that began and ended in 1979. These lady libertines may have been off-screen 'buddies'... because they appear in films together 4 times during their short careers -- film appearances in which the chemistry between them seems quite natural. And whenever the director called for intimate 'erotik' action, the two were happy to go either or both ways (as in Öyle Bir Kadın Ki)... depending on the 'needs' of the script. Recep Filiz and Cem Eser -- A Screenwriter/Actor and an Actor By the time he wrote the successful screenplay for 'A Woman Like That', Recep Filiz (at right) had already written 60 others -- beginning with Commando Mehmet (which starred Engin Çağlar and Fatma Karanfil, in 1970). Additionally,"Woman Like That" was Recep Bey's 30-something-th actor's credit in an acting career that spanned three decades (1966-1988). Thanks to Gaye Film Productions And, that's not to mention the 3 movies he produced in 1979, nor the 3 he directed between 1978-84. Recep Bey, it seems, was a virtual human dynamo of Turkish film-making... In stark contrast, Cem Eser's role in Öyle Bir Kadın Ki was the second of his three-film acting career -- which began and ended in the same year, 1979. Naki Yurter, Turkish Erotic Action and Porn Film Director -- The Director Of "A Woman Like That" was Turkey's Ed Wood... Born 1948 in Izmir Naki Yurter (real name, Yani Veligradino) had a career that spanned the years between 1972 and 1980. During that time he directed 51 movies, produced 12, wrote the screenplays for 13 others -- and even acted in one, Denizden Gelen Kadın (starring Zerrin Egeliler and Ünsal Emre) in 1978. But despite his prodigious film-making output and his many additions to the Turkish Movies Database, he remains lightly regarded by Turkish film historians because he never addressed a subject on film with any gravitas - preferring instead to crank out action, adventure, and erotik potboilers for pure entertainment. Much like his most-obvious American counterpart, the cult-film director Ed Wood...Naki Bey's "Passion was making movies. Women were his inspiration." After he graduated from Ankara College in 1968, he got a job as a movie-maker's assistant -- which led to his becoming a full fledged director in 1972. That year he produced and directed 4 films -- Cehenneme Postalarım (My Postings to Hell), Öfke (Anger), Ölüm Elçileri (Death Envoys), and Şehmuz. He still holds the record for most movies completed in a single year by a Turkish Movie Director -- 28 completed movies in 1979. But the Naki Yurter film of 1979 that sent shockwaves through the Turkish Movie Archive and upended Turkish cinematic history was Turkey's first 'gloves-off erotik' blockbuster Öyle Bir Kadın Ki (A Woman Like That). Naki Yurter was arrested in 1980 in a 'seks filmler operasyonu” carried out by the Turkey Military Government -- and he left the movie-making business (never to return) when he was charged and brought to trial for making and distributing pornogrphic films. He died in 1992, an apparently broken man -- barely 44 years of age.
