As we've already mentioned...
When it comes to celebrating Mothers Day, Turkish sons and daughters are not much different than their counterparts in English-speaking parts of the world (where you may be reading this). And the same is true for Fathers Day.
Of course, in Turkey, sons and daughters express their Fathers Day wishes a little differently...
Babalar gününüz kutlu olsun (Let your Fathers Day be celebrated). Of the three salutations shown here, this one has a slightly classier tone to it. So, you may want to choose it in preference to the other two below -- for your new Father-in-Law...
Babalar gününü kutlarım (I celebrate your Fathers Day).
Mutlu Babalar günü (Happy Fathers Day).
Anyway, they all translate to 'Happy Fathers Day' in English -- and when you combine your salutation with that respectful hand-kiss-forehead-touch tradition that we referenced in our 'Two Traditions' blog, why... you'll having him grinning ear to ear!
Note: Since we had so few takers of our free Mothers Day voice recordings, we haven't prepared any Fathers Day recordings in advance. But it wouldn't take us more than a day or two to get them ready -- so, if you have a particular Turkish father in mind, just drop us a line....
