Ed. Undoubtedly, this is one of the varieties of 'rahatlatmalar' that Stefano mentions at the beginning of this Memoir episode -- in this instance, it's probably a opium-based narcotic of some sort. As we go to press, I am researching to learn more about the popular 'illicit' drugs of Stefano's age -- and the various sobriquets by which they were known. But, until I'm able to identify them precisely for the reader, I have left un-footnoted all later references to these quaintly-named 'comforters'.
