When I visited the States in 1975 after living and working in Europe for 7 years, my sister Hillary jokingly told me that I reminded her of The Fonz...And I had no idea what she was talking about. And when Peri visited Turkey after living in the States continuously between 1976 and 1979, she drew a total blank when her brother began referring to the 1978 Riots in Maraş. 'Erotik' Movie History: The First 'Gloves-Off Erotik' Film

The three most popular genres for legally produced Turkish 'erotik' films between 1972 and 1978 were Comedy, Adventure, and Murder mystery. And they all had a not-very-well-kept secret about them in common. The 'secret' was that Turkish actors and actresses didn't actually perform sex. They only simulated it. Men wore underwear (briefs) -- and camera angles were chosen to cover up the fact, sometimes without much success. That sort of 'erotik' film-making subterfuge was abandoned in 1979, when the first all-Turkish cast was filmed in the first-ever legally produced and distributed 'Gloves-Off Erotik' Turkish movie, Öyle Bir Kadın Ki (A Woman Like That) -- directed by Naki Yurter, starring Zerrin Doğan and Levent Günsel in the leading female and male roles...
