Türkiye -- A Gay Haven? -- Part 1
That there is a thriving community of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transvestites and transsexuals (LGBTT) in the larger cities of Turkey (especially Istanbul) is a pretty open secret. And except for those in the latter category of sexual 'orientation' above, that community has existed for a long time apparently. Homosexuality in Ottoman times is well documented, efendim.

A 'Fast Food' Fable for Ramadan/Ramazan
An especially shrewd fox was wandering through the forest one day during Ramazan -- when his eyes fell upon an extremely appetizing sight. May Face Import Restrictions Soon
It may have been a coincidence... But on the same day that Panasonic
Marketing Europe Director, Dietrich Nedele, announced the introduction
of Turkish language menus and users manuals for all of his company's electronic exports to Turkey, the Director of the Turkish Language Society (TDK), Sükrü H. Akalın called for a Turkish boycott of foreign import products that didn't
provide Turkish language instructions or users manuals. He cited, but
did not identify, one company that exports to Turkey which, although it provides users manuals in 18 different languages, doesn't provide one in Turkish...

Troubles in Turkish Paradise -- According to Turkey's Top Military Officer
In one of his first official statements since assuming command as the country's top military officer, the new Genelkurmay Başkanı (Chairman of the Turkish Joint Chiefs of Staff), Yaşar Büyükanıt, identified two major threats to the welfare of the Turkish Republic.
